We’re looking for a Fund Manager
We’re looking for a new Fund Manager to join our team in County Durham.
It’ll be your job to make sure our grants get out into the communities of County Durham and Tees Valley, where they can make the most difference to the most amount of people.

Over the past three decades, Point North has been a force for good across County Durham and Tees Valley, awarding more than £70 million in grants that make a real difference to people and places.
Our Fund Managers are at the heart of this process, they’re involved in every aspect of our grant making, from liaising with the donor to understand their aims for the fund, to working with our marketing team to launch the grant, assessing the applications, making grants to community groups and monitoring their impact.
As a Fund Manager you would be part of our small and lively Grants team, working across a diverse portfolio of funds to fight poverty and enrich the lives of local people.
That might mean you’re working on a fund that trains people in new skills to help them into work, or for a youth club that gives children and young people a purpose or a food bank supporting people with essential items when they need it the most. And everything in between.

What we're looking for
In this role you’ll be a lynchpin between donors and community groups, understanding what the donor wants to achieve and matching that to the places where they can make the most difference to the most amount of people. At the same time, you’ll support community groups in applying for grants that help them address inequality and poverty in their area.
You’ll be working with a range of different people from different backgrounds, with different needs and often with different aims and objectives. You’ll be bringing all of that together, so being compassionate, organised and a good communicator will be a huge benefit!
Other qualities we’re looking for in a new team member are:
- You’re enthusiastic and approachable, someone who colleagues, donors and community members feel comfortable coming to with an idea or problem
- You’re motivated, organised and keen to get things done
- You can be flexible, open to new ideas and happy to try something different
- You care about doing a good job, giving excellent service to our donors and communities

What you'll do
Some of the things you can expect to do in a Fund Manager role at Point North include:
- Advising community groups on our open grant schemes, working with other development agencies, and offering alternative funding advice where appropriate
- Managing funds to make sure that they meet and comply with donors’ specifications and Point North’s interests
- Assessing all grant applications for the funds you manage – this will be a significant part of your role
- Managing external committees and organising dates for grant panels, providing reports and recommendations for how to allocate/award grants
- Producing clear and insightful reports which demonstrate the impact of the fund
- Attending events as a representative of Point North
- Working collaboratively with other Point North departments such as marketing and finance
