As a charity, grant maker and a community foundation we know we have a responsibility to our communities, donors and supporters in County Durham and beyond.
We take a ‘continuous improvement’ approach to all we do, including our own development as people and as an organisation.

Our research
Our latest research, conducted in partnership with Health Equity North, shows that people in County Durham and Tees Valley, in the North East of England, experience extreme levels of deprivation with much higher child poverty rates, much lower life expectancy and healthy life expectancy, worse health across a wide range of conditions from strokes to cancer and much higher unemployment rates than the national average.

Our climate commitments
Our commitment to taking action to reduce our impact on the environment extends across our organisation and through to our grant making.
Many of our grants include a ‘greening’ allowance, an additional sum of money to support grant recipients in making their projects or organisations greener.
We’re a signatory of the SME Climate Commitment with the aim of reaching net zero emissions by 2040.
In the year 1 April 2024 – 31 March 2025 we’ve reduced our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, tCO2e.

Team health & wellbeing
We take our responsibility to care for our team seriously!
In 2023 we implemented the 9-day fortnight. This gives everyone a Friday off every other week, along with our hybrid working approach and flexible working options our team can rest and have an improved work/life balance.

We take a ‘continuous improvement’ approach to all our work at Point North. We regularly invite feedback and as part of our standard application and donation processes.
