Leave a gift in your will and support local people for years to come.
Legacy giving
Leaving a gift in your will is a meaningful way to support the communities you care about, even after your lifetime.
Size is not important! Any size of gift helps create opportunities, strengthen local communities and make life fairer for people across County Durham and Tees Valley.
Legacy gifts often come from a simple wish: to continue caring for the places and people who shaped you.
Why people choose a legacy gift
Legacy giving lets you keep supporting the causes you care about beyond your lifetime. You can choose to support the people and places that shaped your life and hold a special place in your heart.
Support the issues, people and places that matter the most to you.
Continue your support for local communities long into the future.
Create a lasting connection between your values and real change.
Help ensure vital community work continues for future generations.
Your legacy can create brighter futures for years to come.
How it works
Leaving a legacy gift is straightforward:
- Decide the type of gift you want to leave, for example a fixed amount, a percentage of your estate, or a specific item or asset.
- Share the details with your solicitor or will writer.
- Use our charity name and number to ensure your gift reaches us.
- If you’d like, tell us your intentions so we can thank you and, if helpful, discuss how your gift might be used.
There is no obligation to inform us, we respect your privacy and your decisions.
If you’d like your gift to be more structured
Some people choose to direct their gift into a Named Fund, which can carry your name or the name of a loved one.
This allows your impact to continue in a focused, personal way, it means your family could be involved in how the fund is used. We can talk you through these options before you make a decision.
How your gift helps
Legacy gifts support the community groups who stand alongside local people every day. Your gift could help:
families facing hardship
young people accessing new opportunities
community centres offering warmth and connection
projects improving mental and physical wellbeing
arts, culture and activities that bring people together
community-led work that strengthens towns and neighbourhoods.
